Understanding Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural human response—it’s the body’s way of alerting us to potential danger and preparing us to react. In small doses, anxiety can be helpful, keeping us motivated and aware. But when anxiety becomes overwhelming, constant, or out of proportion to the situation, it can interfere with daily life, relationships, work, and overall well-being.

Many people experience anxiety in different ways. Some notice racing thoughts, restlessness, or difficulty concentrating. Others feel physical symptoms such as a rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, stomach discomfort, or muscle tension. Anxiety can also show up as avoidance—wanting to steer clear of places, people, or activities that feel overwhelming.

If you’re struggling with anxiety, you’re not alone. Millions of people live with it every day, and with the right support, anxiety can become much more manageable. Therapy provides a safe, non-judgmental space to explore what’s fueling your anxiety, learn effective coping strategies, and regain a sense of calm and control.

In our work together, we’ll focus on:

  • Understanding how anxiety affects your mind and body

  • Identifying triggers and thought patterns that keep anxiety going

  • Learning evidence-based tools to reduce symptoms and increase resilience

  • Building confidence to face challenges with greater ease

You don’t have to live at the mercy of anxious thoughts and feelings. With guidance and support, it’s possible to find relief and create a life that feels steadier, calmer, and more fulfilling.
